Photographic Art
I have called this gallery 'Photographic Art' because these are all real photos. They have not been photoshopped or enhanced in post production and were created with physical props rather than computer programs.
There are a few shots which warrant a little explanation;
The colourful spirals were achieved by hanging a torch from the ceiling in a dark room, I covered the torch lens with coloured gels, placed my camera on the floor, focused it and set it to 'bulb'. I set the torch swinging and held the shutter open until it had stopped. I love this effect and it gives a unique pattern every time.
The first background that appears as you open this page was achieved using a rainbow coloured Slinky Toy. I fixed ends together to form a circle, placed a sheet of clear plastic just above it and dropped a mix of water and glycerine onto the plastic. Using a macro lens I focused in on the droplets which each became a lens in their own right. This repeats the subject below in every drop.
The 'falling droplets' pictures were in fact, milk mixed with food dyes. Capturing the corona with a macro lens just takes patience and a helper with a steady hand and a apron!
The multi coloured rose was originally white. I split the stem and stood each part in food dyes. Overnight the rose sucked up the dyes and transformed into this unnaturally beautiful flower.
The second image on this page was created by simply looking at compressed plastic through a polarizing filter. This shows up all the compression patterns with a rainbow effect.
If you would like to know more about any of the photographs in this gallery please email me and I will give you as much detail as I can.I hope you like them.
